Often a person is being looked up to, or respected because he is in a certain position. With position, one gets special privilege and treatment.  When I was Associate Director in a big MNC, vendors and people around will often volunteer information and help whenever I requested.

Now after I left and start on my own, people don’t really give my request much weight. 

This is reality of life. One will get again with Wealth, Position(Power), Wisdom. 

People listen to one with

Wealth – Like Jack Ma, Elon Musk.

Position/Power – Like Xi Jinping, Lee Hsian Long 

Wisdom/Talent – Ajahn Brahm.

There are people like Steve Job, Bill Gates who have all 3 qualities.

This is one good piece of news over this weekend. It has been too long for the advancement of technology in the whole of government. 

My take for this is the bureaucracy and political infighting. Everyone is trying to secure their iron rice bowl. There are many high fliers brought into the civil service due to academic results and maybe connections, deep down are these so call civil servant really working towards nation building and the betterment of society.. 

Its very much like the old shanghai, where people with power gang up together helping their own kind and not ordinary people on the road.

There were many attempts to push through changes only to be met with resistance when it hit the ground.

There are other challenges.. Technology is moving so fast that there is no clear standard or model to follow… the traditional way of procurement may not work now as we need to make bet on trends and emerging technology/standards.

No global standard that can adhere to.

Certified after 3 months hard work.  This is a personal goal and ego to show that I’ve still the skills in me to do deep technical work. 

It has always been my passion to keep my skills sharp on the latest and greatest technology out there.  Very often not something my work environment embrace. 

It was frustrating seeing that we are stuck in the same old technology mindset when people around us has leapfrogged.

It’s time to change.

My girl had her bicycle lesson yesterday.. A nice one with her learned the skill in one hour solid… This is cause for celebration. Another event deserved commendation, my elder boy learnt his cycling skill from the sam instructor last December, back then his sister followed and while waiting, mommy bought some tidbits which the sister happily eating away leaving only one last piece for my elder boy.
My boy remembered and mentioned early in the morning that he would do the same, wanting me to buy tidbits for him and he would finished them off.. lesson starts, I bought him a packet of seaweeds, he hold it in his hand, waving and teasing his sister on having the tidbits, but he didn’t open it… I asked him does he want to open it, he was so kind to say that he would keep till lesson end and share with his sister….
Sometimes, kids just wanted to tease each other and deep beneath, they are caring and looked out for each other..

[su_frame][/su_frame] My little boy had a fall last night face down, with cuts in his gums and bleed, he was in agony. How my elder boy reacted gave me a sense of blessing. He braved himself up despite his fear of blood to comfort his little brother. He brought him ice pack to smoothen the pain, giving instruction to me on how to apply the ice pack, change the ice pack regularly..
Can see the real concern he is giving to the little brother… well done and a heartened moment.

[su_frame][/su_frame] After 2 months. Pwned my 2nd machine yeterday, feel damm good. OSCP stood up to its name, not one of those normal certifications that require you to remember facts. This is practical test. Only the good one success. Great that I slowed down and watch Jan Wikholm Youtube. Leads me to Open-Security Forum page, not shooting in the dark anymore.
Learned that I need to go slow in recon, and there are many factors and attack surfaces. need lots of enumeration.
I believe I can do it. Will signup for another 30 days lab to prep for the exam. Wish me good luck.

My boy did well for his presentation exercise. The topic is Overcome Adversity and he talked about Joseph Schooling. The journey from age 6 to 21, from his determination to be a Olympian medalist to getting Singapore 1st Olympic gold.

He actually gotten full mark for this presentation which is a big encouragement not only to him but also his proud parents. 

Well done, boy.

[su_frame][/su_frame] Participated in Wat Ananda new year overnight chanting. Its a fresh experience being finally able to do this after so many years. Its a fresh start for me this year having made the decision to left my previous job.

Did Pindapata to 108 monks in the morning with my family. A nice meritorious deed to start the year with.

May all the expectations and goals for each day be fulfilled on the day itself! Wish everyone a fruitful 2017 ahead day after day.
